Mr. Govind Ghimire has stepped into the role of Chief Executive Officer at NMB Bank. With over 30 years of experience in Nepal’s banking sector and a long-standing leadership presence within the bank, Mr. Ghimire brings deep institutional knowledge and a forward-looking vision to this new responsibility.
Mr. Ghimire has been part of NMB Bank’s core leadership team since 2009, having served as Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Chief Business Officer, and Head of Business Banking. Throughout his tenure, he has played a key role in expanding the bank’s footprint across corporate, SME, and retail banking, while also contributing to areas like trade finance, credit risk, strategic planning, and operational transformation. He has served as a board member at NMB Microfinance and has been involved in several strategic and governance committees within the bank.
He succeeds Mr. Sunil K.C., who led NMB Bank for 17 years and was instrumental in shaping the bank’s values around sustainability, financial inclusion, and ethical banking. The bank acknowledges Mr. K.C.’s enduring contribution and visionary leadership with sincere gratitude.
In his first message as CEO, Mr. Ghimire remarked: “My focus will be on deepening our relevance and impact — through responsible innovation, sustainable partnerships, and inclusive financial solutions. We aim to accelerate our digitization journey while continuing to support communities, clients, and the country. Together with the NMB team, we will work to create lasting value for all.”
Mr. Ghimire holds a Master’s degree in Business Studies (Finance) and a Bachelor’s degree in Law from Tribhuvan University. Known for his calm leadership and strategic clarity, he is widely respected in Nepal’s banking industry for his commitment to progressive, purpose-driven banking.
